Congratulations to Lynda Roche who
was awarded Best In Show for her frame of capped honey.
The show was judged by Bill Fisher who
complemented us on the number of the entries we got and urged all
beekeepers, new and experienced, to enter next year.
There is no better way to improve the standards of the honey and
other hive products we produce.
Some fantastic items were displayed in the four
classes that were judged by members in the hall. The winners of
these were:
| Home produced food
item |
Bryan Garson-Pilbeam |
|
A bee-related photograph
|
Paul Monument |
|
Craft item
|
Bryan Garson-Pilbeam |
|

This year we had a new type of
competition. In April, numbered super frames were
given out and these were returned at the AGM in whatever condition
the bees had left them in.
Prizes were awarded for the
heaviest frame, the
best looking frame and the
least attractive frame. The Association
President, Karen Dadswell, did the judging
The
heaviest frame was from Sara
Turner's bees with a weight of over 1.4kg
The best looking frame was
made by Jean Savigar's bees
The least attractive frame was
the handiwork of Frank Rickett's bees. This was awarded the
special prize of a magnifying glass but it was not clear whether
this was to be used by the bees or by their owner!
